Phil Kelsey (dba CedarCoast) is a software developer with over 30 years experience. From systems analyst, to desktop application designer, to systems engineer, to web application developer, Phil has a broad and varied background. Web application design and development has been his primary focus for more than 10 years.


Until November 2008, Phil was Lead Web Software Engineer at a telecommunications applications development company. His team of telecommunications and web application developers created highly scalable, high availability telephony applications. Web application environments included RedHat Linux, Apache and Tomcat.


Prior to December 2000, Phil played a dual role as Technical Manager and Application Developer for a software company providing billing applications to ISPs, wireless networks and VoIP service providers in over 30 countries.


Prior to June 1998, Phil filled a variety of roles at a major Canadian Airline. He began focusing on software design, development and support in 1979. His roles included field support, system administration, systems analysis, software design and technical management. In his final position, Manager of Information Services, Maintenance and Engineering, Phil managed his division's information technology infrastructure, application development and technical support. He was Y2K Project Manager, responsible for Y2K compliance and upgrading worldwide maintenance and engineering facilities and fleet of aircraft and ground support vehicles. He has worked on joint software development teams with American Airlines, Lufthansa, Daimler-Benz Aerospace (MTU) and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Phil has guest lectured at Ryerson University and is a past member of the Canadian Operational Research Society.
